Hurricane Matthew – currently classified as a Category 3 hurricane – is expected to make landfall on Florida’s east coast as early as Friday morning, moving into the southeastern states as it progresses. Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina have all issued states of emergency in preparation for the storm.
Windstream has activated our business continuity planning process and disaster preparedness plan. Backup generators are present in all of our major switch locations. Additionally, we have portable generators at strategic locations to serve as additional backup power, if necessary.
Be assured that Windstream is executing a disciplined procedure designed to keep our network and our customers’ services operational. In the event of any unavoidable weather-related outages, we will restore service as quickly as possible and will continue to post major updates here.
As we monitor the situation closely throughout the next few days, our thoughts remain with those affected by Hurricane Matthew, concerned for the safety of our customers, our partners, our employees and the citizens of the states in the storm’s path.
